Troop 118 Scouting for Food

GET READY - The Time for Planning is NOW

The Mecklenburg County Council goal – To put the Scout Promise into action with 100% unit participation in the 2012 Scouting for Food.

Troop 118's goal is for each Scout to collect at least their weight in food. Troop 118 collected more than 25,000 pounds of food for Loaves and Fishes in 2011, topping the 2010 collection by nearly 5,000 lbs. This year we want to top the mark we set in 2011.

Collection Goal of 150,000 pounds of food collected by Mecklenburg County Council scouts and distributed through Loaves and Fishes for families in need in our community.

The Time Line

While February 2012 seems a long time away, if we are going to be successful with the Mecklenburg County Council “Good Turn for America” project, we must get our unit leaders and unit Scouting For Food coordinators ready for action.

  • During the November 10, 2011 District Roundtable each unit should have a representative present to choose and “claim” their units SFF collection areas.
  • During the month of December 2012 – work with your SFF District Representative for your “Adopt-A-Neighborhood” collection areas.
  • January 12, 2012 District Roundtable – pick up the Scouting for Food bags for your unit.
  • January 29, 2012 – distribute bags to the church congregations (suggested)
  • Week of January 30 – February 3, 2012 – Distribute bags to your units SFF collection neighborhoods.
  • February 4, 2012 – Scouting for Food neighborhood collection day
  • February 5, 2012 – Scout Sunday and Church collections (suggested)

To aid in your collection efforts, we have provided preprinted flyers to attach to your bags outlining the program and the needs of Loaves and Fishes.

  • 2012 Scout Bag Flyer Large

Large 8 1/2 by 11 flyer to attach to your bag. The flyer outlines who you are, what items to donate, and when you will come back to collect the bag.

  • 2012 Scout Bag Flyer Small Dual

This flyer is similar to the Large flyer. It comes two to an 8 1/2 by 11 page to attach to your bag. The flyer outlines who you are, what items to donate, and when you will come back to collect the bag.

  • Generic Food Drive Boy Scout Flyer Multi

This is a plain generic flyer that comes four to an 8 1/2 by 11 sheet. Although it contains all the information the donor will need, it does not have the visual impact as the other flyers.

We will be providng additional information as we arrive closer to the date.
